What camera do you shoot with?
Canon Mark III and IIs, raw files.
What photographers have you studied with or admire?
I interned with New Orleans cultural documentary photographer Syndey Byrd while in college from 2000-02. She was a student of the legendary color photography pioneer Ernst Haas. I was the digital assistant and archival inkjet printer to National Geographic photographer Ira Block from 2006-09. I studied with Photoshop expert Katrin Eisman at the School of Visual Arts in New York City as well. There have been many photographers who have influenced me, or with whom I've taken workshops, such as David Alan Harvey and Greg Gorman, to name a few. Two other photographers I've had the privilege to meet and whose work I deeply admire are Lillian Bassman and Herman Leonard.
Where are you based and where to you photograph weddings?
I 'm based in Union County, New Jersey and photograph weddings in the Tri-State area, New England, my hometown of New Orleans and beyond. Please inquire for specific fees for destination weddings.
Are you insured, and can you provide an insurance certificate to my venue?
Yes, fully, and yes, if they really want it.
What is your style of wedding photography?
Photojournalism with some fun portraits thrown in. I’m all about real moments and making sure my clients are HAPPY and having FUN so I can capture them being themselves and looking awesome. I keep portraits--formal or informal (like party pics)--to a minimum and use natural light as much as possible. However, when necessary, I will use off-camera lights.
What is your favorite part of a wedding to photograph?
I love dancing, especially the first dance. Sometimes it makes me cry because the moment is so overwhelmingly beautiful.
Are the pictures “ours”?
You will receive a personal license (aka print release) to use them as you like, just don’t sell them. (I offer prints to guests at affordable rates and include retouching, so why would you even need to?)
How long before we see our images?
I always share a few sneak peeks a day or two after the wedding. The rest are finished within 4 weeks. If you are doing a thank-you card, let me know in advance and I will get you a selection sooner than that. And yes, your mother can have an image for her holiday card. Just ask!
What format will they be in?
High-resolution jpg files you can easily print to 11x14 (or larger) on a USB drive with your names on it!
What kind of processing and retouching do you do to the images?
All images are hi-res jpgs with basic corrections to color balance, contrast, exposure, straighten image, crop out distracting elements, if possible. Every image will receive some kind of adjustment as needed. Some might require further editing or retouching.
Additionally, you will get about 5 highlight images per hour of shooting (which are selected by me) in color and black and white, with basic retouching as needed.
Album retouching -- All album images and images ordered with basic retouching receive skin retouching, removal of small distracting elements, teeth whitening. Advanced retouching would include stray hairs (simple), eye opening in portraits, double chins, razor burn, exit signs or other wall fixtures removal, further color and density corrections as needed.
Print retouching -- $5 for 3 elements, $8 for more than 3
Custom retouching -- Stray hairs (complex), body part slimming, head swapping between images, complex spot or distracting element removal. $$+, priced on a case-by-case image based on $60 per hour
Custom Black and White file conversion
$3 each, free on print orders
